A suspected drone attack set an apartment building in Rostov-on-Don, southern Russia, ablaze on Tuesday evening, 2025-08-26. The building, located near Khalturinsky Lane and Moskovskaya Street, was engulfed in flames following the strike. Rostov Region Acting Governor Yuri Slyusar reported that falling debris from a downed UAV caused an explosion and fire on the roof of the four-story building. Firefighters contained the blaze within 250 square meters, with no casualties reported. Fifteen residents were evacuated to a nearby school shelter. Rostov, home to Russia’s Southern Military District headquarters and several military assets, has been a frequent target since the war began. The attack occurred amid intensified Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, including a DTEK facility in Donetsk that was severely damaged.
